Colleague Care: Notice the Little Things

Sometimes, the people who make our workdays better are the ones who do the little things.

Someone catches a spelling mistake just before you hit send. A colleague shows you a quicker way to finish a task. Another remembers how you take your coffee after a difficult morning.

None of these moments is dramatic. But they matter.

Small gestures, better workdays

It's easy to notice the big achievements. The completed project, the successful presentation, the deadline met. Yet behind many of those wins are quiet acts of support that rarely appear on a report.

That colleague who double-checks your work before it goes out? They may have just saved you a stressful afternoon.

That teammate who offers to help without being asked? They may have made a heavy day feel manageable.

Three ways to show a little colleague care

Notice the effort. A quick “thanks for catching that” can go a long way. Be specific about what someone did and why it helped.

Offer a little help. Sharing a shortcut, checking a detail or stepping in for a moment can make someone's workday easier.

Return the kindness. You don't need a special occasion. The next time you can help someone, do it.

A little recognition can mean a lot

We don't always remember every meeting or email from a busy week. But we often remember the person who noticed we needed a hand.

So here's a simple Colleague Care thought for today: who's done something small that made your day better? Let them know.

Small things count.
